NitorLACK Deep Black Paint, 400 ml Aerosol
This is a high-intensity black nitrocellulose lacquer finish, inspired by the lacquer used by Gibson. Used mainly on models such as the Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty", this deep black shade, paired with gold hardware, gives the guitar a unique elegance.
Vintage-inspired guitar colors
After meticulous work and in-depth research by our laboratory and technical department, we created guitar colors that faithfully recreate the shades of vintage Fender and Gibson guitars. These colors are based on original samples from the 50s and 60s. However, note that the colors of vintage guitars may have changed considerably over the years, due to the aging of nitrocellulose lacquer and to changes the brands made to their shades. As a result, two guitars finished in 1960 in original Fender colors may differ, from each other or from a more recent guitar.
Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer in aerosol cans
At NitorLACK, we have developed all our guitar colors in nitrocellulose aerosol format. You do not need professional spraying equipment to paint your guitar. You can achieve a professional finish with our complete range of products, from colored base coats to gloss and satin nitrocellulose clear coats.
How much aerosol paint do I need to paint a guitar?
It depends on the wood species, the amount of product applied per coat and the finish you want: mirror gloss or open pore. As a general rule, to paint a guitar made of medium-pore wood:
• Electric guitar neck: 2 cans of clear nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss or satin)
• Electric guitar body: 1 can of colored nitrocellulose base coat, 3 cans of clear nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss or satin)
• Classical or acoustic guitar: 1 can of colored nitrocellulose base coat, 4 or 5 cans of clear nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss or satin)
• Ukulele: 2 cans of clear nitrocellulose lacquer (gloss or satin)
• If you want to apply a color between the base coat and the clear coat, add 1 or 2 cans of the desired color.
Application tips
Shake vigorously for 2 to 5 minutes before use. Apply the lacquer in thin coats and in dry weather. Spray with an even motion from a distance of about 20 cm. Apply a base coat and sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper before spraying, to get an even surface before coloring or finishing. Sand lightly between coats and allow 12 to 24 hours of drying time between each coat. Apply in well-ventilated areas.
