Goldo / Duesenberg LES TREM Vibrato

Goldo / Duesenberg Les Trem Vibrato: a Les Paul vibrato with no drilling required

Want to add a vibrato to your Les Paul without drilling into the guitar? The Goldo / Duesenberg Les Trem is an ingenious solution that transforms a guitar fitted with a Stop Bar tailpiece into a vibrato-equipped instrument, with no permanent modification on many compatible models.

Designed to fit in place of the original tailpiece, the Les Trem vibrato uses the existing mounting points. It provides an alternative to traditional Bigsby and Vibrola vibratos, with simple, reversible installation.

Particularly popular on Gibson Les Paul, SG and ES-335 guitars, this compact system expands the instrument's expressive possibilities while preserving its looks.

Install a vibrato on a Les Paul without drilling the guitar

Installing a traditional vibrato often involves drilling new holes into the guitar body. A modification many guitarists prefer to avoid, especially on a valuable instrument.

The Duesenberg Les Trem II addresses this issue directly. It mounts straight onto the existing Stop Bar tailpiece inserts, subject to compatible dimensions and fittings.

This design offers several advantages:

• No additional drilling on compatible guitars.

• Reversible installation, allowing the original configuration to be restored.

• Retains the existing Tune-O-Matic bridge, when suitable.

• Compact format, preserving the guitar's aesthetics.

• Smooth, progressive vibrato action, ideal for adding nuance to your playing.

The Les Trem lets you enjoy a vibrato on a Les Paul with no irreversible modification, while retaining the option to easily return to a classic Stop Bar tailpiece.

Les Trem II: a compact, expressive vibrato

The Duesenberg Les Trem II uses a spring mechanism to deliver natural pitch modulation, from subtle vibrato effects to more pronounced variations, within its travel range.

Its compact format integrates easily with guitars fitted with a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece.

The arm offers a comfortable grip and allows nuanced playing without radically changing the feel of the instrument. The Les Trem is particularly popular in blues, rock, rockabilly and vintage styles.

Which guitars are compatible with a Goldo / Duesenberg Les Trem?

Before replacing your tailpiece with a Les Trem vibrato, several factors must be checked:

• Tailpiece type: the system is mainly designed for guitars fitted with a two-post Stop Bar.

• Insert spacing: dimensions must match the specifications of the selected Les Trem model.

• Thread type: metric and imperial standards may require specific studs or adapters.

• Bridge position: a suitable, properly set up Tune-O-Matic bridge supports correct vibrato operation.

• Available clearance: the top shape and the position of the guitar's components must allow installation of the mechanism and movement of the arm.

Tuning stability also depends on the instrument setup, nut quality and friction at the bridge.
