The charm of Bigsby

Invented by Paul Bigsby in the 1940s, the Bigsby is known for its elegant, classic design, often associated with vintage guitars. Several Bigsby models and brands are available. The main models include the B3, B5, B6 and B7, as well as the B11, B12 and B16.

There are also several manufacturers. The Bigsby brand offers USA Original Kalamazoo Bigsbys such as the B5, as well as Asian-licensed Bigsbys such as the B50. There are also brands inspired by them, such as Göldo or Duesenberg (TDG5 or TDBSN).

Original USA Bigsbys

Bigsby B3:
- Designed for semi-hollow and hollow-body guitars without a centre block.
- Guitar examples: Gretsch Duo Jet, Gibson ES-330...
Bigsby B5:
- Designed for solid-body guitars and certain semi-hollow guitar models with a centre block.
- Guitar examples: Fender Telecaster, Gibson SG...
Bigsby B6:
- Used mainly on large hollow-body guitars.
- Guitar examples: Gretsch Country Gentleman, Gibson ES-175...
Bigsby B7:
- Designed for semi-hollow-body guitars with a centre block.
- Guitar examples: Gibson ES-335, Epiphone Casino...

Bigsbys can be fitted to different electric guitars, although some guitar modifications may be required. To avoid this, you will find various adapter systems (Towner, Vibramate, Duesenberg...)
