The Freeze Spray NitorLACK is specially designed to reproduce the famous checking found on vintage guitars from the 50s and 60s. By abruptly cooling the surface of a nitrocellulose finish, it causes a thermal shock that generates a natural network of fine cracks, similar to that created by several decades of aging.
Whether you want to achieve a slight aging or a more pronounced relic, this spray allows you to control the result according to your project.
A personalized checking according to your technique
The appearance of the cracks directly depends on how the product is applied.
Spraying at a short distance concentrates the cold on a small area and produces a network of very tight fine cracks, reminiscent of a spider web.
Spraying from a further distance diffuses the cooling over a larger surface and generates more open and spaced cracks.
This mastery allows reproducing different aging styles depending on the desired effect.
Usage tips
For optimal results, the nitrocellulose finish must be perfectly cured.
Wait 2 to 3 weeks after applying the nitrocellulose varnish.
Shake the aerosol thoroughly before use.
Spray lightly at a distance between 15 and 25 cm.
Work progressively, by zones, to control the intensity and distribution of the checking.
The first cracks usually appear a few seconds after application.

Important information
The Freeze Spray is only compatible with nitrocellulose finishes. It should not be used on polyurethane, polyester varnishes, or water-based finishes, which will not react in the same way.
The obtained checking is permanent, as it modifies the varnish layer. Before any application on a complete guitar, it is recommended to perform a test on a less visible area to validate the desired result.
