Nitorlack NitorTINT: Nitorlack NitorTINT guitar dye
Nitorlack NitorTINT are concentrated dyes developed specifically for finishing guitars and musical instruments.
Unlike opaque paint, dye penetrates the wood and allows you to change its colour without masking its natural grain. It is particularly suitable for woods with attractive figuring, such as flamed maple, quilted maple or other species with pronounced grain.
Colour intensity can be built up gradually depending on the dilution and number of applications.
The different NitorTINT colours can also be mixed together to create a custom shade.
To bring out the grain
The Black dye can be used as a first coat on figured wood: after application and sanding, some of the black remains in the deepest grain lines. A second dye, such as Blue or Green, can then be applied for greater contrast and to enhance the wood's 3D effect.
Application
The wood must be clean, even and properly sanded before application.
The dye can be applied directly to the wood with a pad, cloth or spray gun, in several coats until the desired intensity is achieved.
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours of drying time between applications and ideally 12 hours before applying the finishing lacquer.
Warning: dilution options depend on the colour. The Green dye must not be diluted with water.
