The Relic Gloss nitrocellulose varnish for guitars has been specially formulated to achieve a cracked effect and create relic finishes on electric guitars.
The cracking usually appears a few days after application. It is recommended to use it as a finishing coat. After applying a base coat, a colored varnish, and a clear top coat, you can apply two to three thin coats of Relic Gloss to facilitate the aging process. If the cracking does not form or if you want a more pronounced cracking, you can accentuate or speed it up by playing with temperature variations on the surface of the guitar. The varnish can then be sanded and polished. Relic Gloss is an excellent choice if you want to give your guitar a vintage touch accentuated by the passage of time on the wood.
